General Rules & Procedures
Regarding Public Participation at WPB City Commission Meetings
Agenda: The agenda is available in the City Administrator's Office, the City Clerk's Office, and is broadcast over the City's cable television Channel #18, as well as the West Palm TV website. There shall be an official agenda for every meeting of the City Commission which shall determine the order of business conducted at the meeting. View a listing of upcoming Agendas.
Consent Calendar: These are items which are not discussed individually and are voted on as a group. The consent calendar consists of items considered non-controversial, with no policy implications, and is approved without discussion. A City Commissioner may remove an item from the consent calendar to be considered following the Commission vote on the remainder of the consent calendar.
Regular Agenda Items: These are items which the Commission will discuss individually in the order listed on the agenda.
Who May Speak: The public is encouraged to offer comment to the Commission at their meetings on any item listed on the agenda. Please complete a public comment card and give it to the City Clerk who is seated at the left side of the dais in Commission Chambers.
Addressing the Commission: When your name is called, please step up to the podium and state, for the record, your name and address. All comments shall be directed to the Commission, not to a member thereof or to the general public. Persons addressing the Commission during general public comment shall limit their remarks to three minutes.
Decorum: Any person making personal, impertinent or slanderous remarks or who becomes boisterous while addressing the Commission or while attending the Commission meeting shall be removed from the room if the sergeant-at-arms is so directed by the presiding officer, and such person shall be barred from further audience before the Commission.
Commission meetings are held biweekly, in City Hall Commission Chambers, 401 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach, on Mondays beginning at 4:00 p.m. All meetings of the City Commission are open to the public.
